Welcome to Class 1
Some parents have asked for guidance regarding the organisation of home learning during this time of school closure. Whilst we know that you are perfectly capable of organising yourselves and your families, these are unprecedented times and we would like to offer support, should you need it.
Teachers can also be contacted via the Purleigh Admin e-mail account.
If you haven’t done it already, then one of the first things that you may want your children to do is to draw or paint a rainbow to place in your window. People walking past your house will be cheered up by seeing the rainbows and your children can go for a walk and count the rainbows they find too.
We suggest that you follow a daily timetable that includes the following:
10-15 minutes of reading – either reading to an adult/sibling or completing some reading comprehension;
10-15 minutes of phonics practice using your home materials or phonic resources, including web links from this page;
10 minutes of spelling practice using the look, say, cover, write, check method;
A maths challenge;
An English/ writing challenge;
A topic challenge – science, art, history, geography etc.
A physical workout – Joe Wicks or Cosmic Yoga.
Note that Joe Wicks is offering daily P.E. lessons on his YouTube channel.
Stay safe everybody!
