Homework Expectations
Here are a few reminders about what is expected for Year 1 children in the Spring Term:
- Reading should be completed every day. This only needs to be for 5 minutes. The regular revision of their phonics as well as discussing the text content and meaning, all help to promote a love of reading as well as develop a greater language understanding.
- The children will also be set weekly arithmetic tasks which will directly link to their learning in class. These will help the children to consolidate and revise their learning as well as allow you to see some of the content we cover. Please scroll down for the Arithmetic link.
- There is also the topic based homework that allows your child to extend their knowledge and understanding as well as share some of the wider curriculum at home. These tasks will develop a range of writing, creative and knowledge based skills that we hope the children enjoy completing. Please scroll down for the Topic link.
- Weekly spellings will also continue to be set and can be found by scrolling down for the link below. By revising these patterns at home as well as at school will help the children with their writing as well as their reading and link to the phonics patterns that have been taught so far.
Homework books need to be handed in by Wednesday of each week in order to be marked and handed back on a Friday. If you miss one week, don't worry, we will see it the following week.
Thank you for your continued support.
