Welcome to Purleigh Primary School!
Purleigh Primary School is situated in the village of Purleigh, south of the Blackwater Estuary in Essex. The towns of Maldon and South Woodham Ferrers are three and four miles away and there are several smaller villages that are situated around the school. It is these villages that form the school's priority admission area.
The classes are divided into seven individual year groups and class numbers range from thirty to thirty four. Presently the school has a 209 pupils on its roll, highlighting the school's popularity.
In November 2012 we were inspected by Ofsted and were graded as 'outstanding' across the board. We were judged as outstanding for Achievement of pupils, Quality of Teaching, Behaviour and Safety of pupils, Quality of Leadership and Management as well as Overall Effectiveness. Since this inspection the school has continued to develop and is now part of The Eveleigh LINK Academy Trust. We continue to have external monitoring visits which identify the schools strengths.
Pupils attain results across the school traditionally well above national data in reading writing and maths. In 2022 and 2023 we achieved greater than the national average for pupils meeting the required standard in reading, writing and maths at Key Stage 1 and in Key Stage 2 for reading and writing at age related expectation and at greater depth, being in line with national for mathematics.
Purleigh Primary School is a happy village school where parents enjoy sending their children. It has a positive ethos and is a popular school with many families travelling a long way to attend.
The school learning environments are enriching and supportive and behaviour is strongly positive.
I am extremely proud to be Headteacher at Purleigh Primary School and thoroughly enjoy working with the children, parents, governors and staff. If you would like a visit to the school I would love to show you around our amazing site and fantastic school.
