Welcome to Reception Class 2018-2019!
Welcome to Purleigh Community Primary School! This is our class page. Here you will find lots of information about what we are going to be learning - and photographs of all the fun we are having at school!
We will start our first school term with a focus on ourselves with the topic of 'Marvellous Me' - we will be settling in to school routines and making lots of new friends whilst exploring the different areas around school. The children will learn Phase 2 phonics and will begin to blend sounds to read and write. For Mathematics we will be learning through lots of practical activities as well as learning to record using numbers and pictures - we will be counting using objects as well as ourselves and we will sing lots of counting rhymes! Lots of learning will come from carefully planned, practical play activities and the children will be having lots of fun!
After Half Term, the topic theme will change to 'Superhero Me'. We will be learning about our talents and skills. We will also have themed weeks based around Halloween and Christmas. This will also involve our Nativity performed at All Saints Church, Purleigh which is a wonderfully atmospheric start to Christmas! As before, lots of learning will be planned for with interactive and exciting play activities. For more information, please see the topic letter. If you have any queries about your child's learning, please come and speak to us.
We will be setting up each child's Tapestry account, our on-line Learning Journey, with photographs and comments about the children's learning - if you are also able to contribute to this we would love to share your child's learning at home. Feedback about Tapestry has been very positive and it is proving to be an interactive resource for you to share your child's progress.
