Welcome

Letters from Miss P

Week beginning 18.5.20

Hello Class 4

Well done to those who had a go at the brainteasers I set. You can find the answers on the blog.

I’ve been enjoying looking at the avatars some of you have created on the blog. You can also send messages and photos and add comments to what others have posted so have look.

Thank you for all your emails letting me know about the different activities you’ve been doing. It’s also interesting when you answer some of my questions or follow up a suggestion. Please keep telling me about the lessons you are trying and what you think of them.

This week’s challenge is to find out about Anglo Saxon homes: how they were made, what they were made from and why. If you don’t fancy this then perhaps you could find out about Anglo Saxon words and place names or try some art using typical Anglo Saxon designs.

Thank you to Eli and his mum for trying the tooth decay experiment with real teeth – check out the science lessons list to look at this. You will also notice a new lesson about food chains which I hope you enjoy. Please take some time to research food chains for some of your favourite creatures.

Hope to hear from you this week. Please email me at Year4@purleigh.essex.sch.uk

Best wishes

Miss Padfield

Week beginning 11.5.20

Hello Class 4

It was lovely to hear from you again this week. Please keep sending your messages and photos as I enjoy finding out what you’ve been doing. When I’m writing my replies, I try to imagine I’m talking to you and what you might be thinking or doing if we were in class. I know that times are different but we will get through this if we try our best and keep positive.

This week Katie and Willow W have given me ideas for our class story which I’ll be adding this so I hope you enjoy these next paragraphs. Also send me more ideas even if it’s just a character, a super sentence or an event. I know some of you are writing your own stories and if you send them to me I can give you feedback and then we can add them to the website too.

Mr Stotter will be sending information about class blogs where we can leave messages and photos for each other. Please be kind and thoughtful. You can also create your own avatar which I thought was fun. I’ve also set up a couple of brain teasers for you to try.

Mr Figg will also be collecting some photos of you learning at home so if you haven’t done so yet then please send one to me.

Well done if you had a go at some weaving, science and maths challenges as well as Maths and English lessons. Let me know what you think of the different choices.

Have a look at the ‘Other Activities’ section on our class webpages please. In the Anglo Saxon part, the knowledge organiser has questions and website links for you to explore over the next few weeks. There’s also a ‘Music Stuff’ area with some super fun music making websites. I love these and keep having sneaky sessions…it even sounds like I’m good it (sometimes!)

Hope to hear from you this week. Please email me at Year4@purleigh.essex.sch.uk

Best wishes

Week beginning 4.5.20

Hello Class 4

Hope you all got my emails.

Again this week, I’ve seen a super range of activities so thank you and please look in the gallery to see photos that you have sent in.

Lots of you are trying out the weekly Maths lessons so well done but also have a look at the bbc weekly challenges and the 'I See Maths' website as this one has video lessons that you might prefer.

Like lots of you I’ve been gardening and cooking. This week I’ve been making banana bread muffins…as usual the best bit was licking the spoon of all the last bits round the bowl!

Please have a look at all the ideas on the Purleigh School website as there are lots of different activities from music to science to try.

Thank you to Connie for giving me an idea to add to the class story. Please read it and send me your own ideas so we can carry it on.

Hope to hear from you this week. Please email me at Year4@purleigh.essex.sch.uk

Best wishes

Week beginning 27.4.20

Hello Class 4

Great to see some of you are doing a wonderful variety of activities from planting seeds to cooking and from history to art as well as keeping fit. Let me know if you have any requests for things for me to find for you.

Please go on the Purleigh School website. Each week there are Maths and English lessons for each day. I’ve also added a few other lessons and activities for variety and because I think they look interesting. Remember to use Active learn for Bug Club books, spelling and maths games and check out the other website links too.

Please give me some ideas for a class story.

Vocabulary Challenge 1: Find out what mercenaries are and which topic it might go with.

Vocabulary Challenge 2: Find out what ‘sage’ means. Use it in a sentence.

Hope to hear from you this week...using the Year4 email.

Best wishes

Hello Class 4,

It is very strange not to be seeing you and I really miss you! I keep thinking of things that I want to say to you or do with the class. Remember, you can use the admin email to send photos, story ideas and anything else that you want to share – so please do.

I hope you are finding out new things, improving what you can do and having a good time with your family. Try to get outside and enjoy the spring and have a go at different activities that give your brain and body a workout.

Wishing you and your families a happy Easter

Miss Padfield
