Targeted Question Books
For this term, the majority of Year 6's homework will be focussed on the Maths and Grammar, Punctuation and Spellings question books the children have been given. Each week, the children will be given specific pages which we would like for them to attempt, ready to be marked on the following Wednesday or Thursday.
Please ensure they do not work through the books front to back, as we have a deliberate structure that we would like to follow.
Please support your child by giving them lots of encouragement and opportunities to complete their work in a quiet, calm environment. Should your child get stuck, the first course of action is for them to research the answer themselves. Independent trouble-shooting is a very important skill for your child to develop, especially at this stage of their education, and will ensure that the answer is much more firmly lodged in their heads than if they received extensive adult support. The internet is full of revision videos for any of the grammatical or mathematical rules and procedures the children will be asked to complete and this would be a good starting point for them.
Failing that, I am fine for you to support your child in discovering the answer together, but please try to encourage your child to lead the discussions as much as possible. I am always very happy to support your child (or yourself) out of lesson time and they (you) need only to ask me for a quick revision session.
